FIRM HISTORY

Our firm is located in Statesboro, Georgia, and was founded in 1983 by Marshall Thigpen. Russ Lanier joined the firm in 1988 and became a partner in 1990, Richard Deal joined the firm as a partner in 2006, and Kay Proctor became a partner in 2016 after working with the firm as a staff CPA for many years.

We provide high quality and affordable tax, accounting, auditing, and advisory services to individuals, businesses, governmental entities, and nonprofit organizations throughout Southeast Georgia.

We know that our clients are the reason for our existence and success, and because of that we are committed to retaining a high quality, friendly staff. We are a client centered firm, and we strive to listen to client needs in order to provide professional and affordable services that are highly relevant to their specific circumstances.

Lanier, Deal & Proctor is a friendly and professional firm that is committed to providing the personalized one-on-one service that our customers expect from a local firm, while at the same time, being committed to offering and providing a vast array of services that cover all of our clients’ needs. Our business services include everything from tax preparation to payroll processing and bookkeeping services. Other services we provide include litigation support and forensic accounting services, QuickBooks setup and support, and personal financial planning.

Blake Bloser, CPA

Blake graduated cum laude from Georgia Southern University in May 2011 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Blake furthered his education at Georgia Southern University, graduating with a Masters of Accounting in December 2012. While in graduate school, Blake worked with the City of Statesboro as an accountant in the Finance Department. In January 2013, Blake began his public accounting career and became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Georgia in March 2014. He joined the firm in September 2014, where his work responsibilities include audits of local governments and non-profit organizations, taxation of individual, corporate and exempt entities and financial statement compilations. Blake also has experience in the areas of estate and trust taxation, audits of employee benefit plans and income tax projections. Blake is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, where he currently serves as President for the Southeast Georgia Chapter after previously serving as the secretary/treasurer and vice president. Blake is married to Meredith Clark Bloser, a native of Bulloch County. Blake and Meredith are members of Statesboro Primitive Baptist Church.

Tiffany Jenkins, CPA, CGMA

Tiffany graduated cum laude from Georgia Southern University in May 2007 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Tiffany returned to Georgia Southern University and received her Masters of Business Administration in May 2012. She became a licensed Certified Public Accountant in June 2012. Originally from Statesboro, Tiffany spent nine years working in public accounting on St. Simons Island before returning to her hometown and joining the firm in November 2016. Her experience includes financial statement compilations and reviews; business, individual, estate, trust, gift and nonprofit taxation; and audits of local governments and nonprofit entities. Tiffany is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners and the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, where she currently serves as Vice President for the Southeast Georgia Chapter. Tiffany is married to Jamie and they have two children, Bryce and Maci.

Rick Deal, CPA

Rick graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2013 with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting. Rick furthered his education at Georgia Southern University, graduating with a Masters of Accounting in 2015. While in school, Rick worked part time at Thigpen, Lanier, Westerfield & Deal and performed various bookkeeping related activities, quarterly payroll tax returns, and tax returns for small businesses and individuals. After completing his graduate degree, he worked for a public accounting firm in Dublin, Georgia for two years, where he obtained experience in various areas of taxation. He became licensed as a Certified Public Accountant in the state of Georgia in September 2016 and rejoined the firm in July 2017, where his work responsibilities with the firm include audits of local governments and nonprofits, taxation of individuals, corporations and exempt entities, as well as financial statement compilations. Rick is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Kiwanis Club of Statesboro, and the Statesboro Jaycees. He currently serves as the Secretary/Treasurer of the Southeast Georgia Chapter of the Georgia Society of CPAs.

Leanne Thompson

Leanne received her Bachelor of Business Administration with an emphasis in Public Accounting from Georgia Southern University in 1991. She also attended the Southern Audit and Operations School in 1996. Leanne has thirteen years of experience in the accounting field. She presently serves as a staff accountant with a primary emphasis in auditing of governments and other organizations. Prior to joining the firm, Leanne’s professional career included thirteen years in banking where she received extensive experience in the area of internal risk management, compliance and internal audit. Leanne is also trained in the areas of lending, operations, and human resources. Leanne is a member of the Georgia Society of Certified Public Accountants. She enjoys serving her community and helping others. She is a member of the Exchange Club of Statesboro. Leanne is a member of Friendship Baptist Church and a native of Bulloch County. She and her husband reside in Statesboro and have two children.

David Thompson

David received his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Georgia Southern University in July 2007. Shortly after graduation, he began his career in public accounting with Lanier, Deal & Proctor, CPAs. His work responsibilities include audits of local governments and nonprofit entities, small business services, and taxation of individuals, partnerships, corporations and other entities, with an emphasis in nonprofit taxation. David is also an IRS Enrolled Agent.  With many years of experience he brings to the firm a wide array of knowledge to help our clients navigate the ins and outs of running a business, big or small. A native of Glennville, Ga, David is a member of Glennville First United Methodist Church. He is an alumnus of Gamma Kappa Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity, as well as CFO and Treasurer of Gamma Kappa Properties, Inc, the housing corporation of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity at Georgia Southern University. He is also a member of the Board of Alumni Advisors for Gamma Kappa Chapter of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. He is an active member of Business Networking International(BNI), the Professional Profit Partners chapter in Statesboro.  David is also a member and officer of Ogeechee Masonic Lodge # 213 F. & A. M. in Statesboro, Ga. He is married to Jennifer Thompson and they reside in Statesboro, Ga.

Breanna Haydon

Breanna received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance and graduated from Georgia Southern University in May 2007. She began her career in the education field, teaching business education courses for four years, while also obtaining a Master of Arts in Teaching and a Specialist in Teaching and Learning, before entering the accounting field. She recently obtained her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Georgia Southwestern State University. Breanna has five years of experience in the accounting field and joined Lanier, Deal and Proctor, CPAs in 2013. Her work responsibilities with the firm include audits of local governmental and nonprofit entities, small business services, and taxation of individuals and other entities. She is currently working toward receiving her CPA and CFE. Breanna is a member of the Statesboro Jaycees. She is married to Cameron Haydon, an elementary school teacher, and they reside in Statesboro.

Wesley Cone

Wesley graduated cum laude from Georgia Southern University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and a Minor in Fraud Examination in May 2011. He continued at Georgia Southern University and received his Master of Accounting with a concentration in Forensic Accounting in May 2013. He worked in local government for a short time before joining the firm in 2013. His work responsibilities with the firm include audits of local governmental and nonprofit entities, small business services, and taxation of individuals and other entities. He is currently working toward receiving his CPA and CFE designations. Wesley was born and raised in Statesboro, GA and currently resides there.

Louise Quattlebaum

Louise began work in the field of accounting in 1997. A 1982 graduate of Georgia Southern, her experience began in small business as a bookkeeper and office manager, and in 2010, she began working in public accounting. Louise joined the firm in 2011, and she primarily assists clients with their payroll and bookkeeping needs. Louise is very knowledgeable regarding payroll and payroll compliance. Her job responsibilities include processing payrolls for clients of all sizes with various compensation policies. She also processes accounts payable and accounts receivable for clients who prefer to outsource these functions and prepares sales tax and other required filings for many of these businesses as well. Louise has lived in Statesboro for over forty years. She is married to John Quattlebaum, and they have four grown children, Christian, John, Morgan, and Gracie. They attend Trinity Presbyterian Church.
